The Little Mermaid Mani

Hey y'all! So I decided to write a little about my Little Mermaid nails I posted today. Mainly, I would like to talk about the 3 mermaid scale nails I did. First off, let me say this, I know that Princess Ariel's red hair is extremely iconic, and recognized by the entirety of the world. But that's exactly why I didn't really incorporate red into my mani.

I scoured the internet, and every social media I could think of to get some inspiration for this mani, and every picture I saw had a dominating red in it, which is fine. But I wanted to make this more or less my own. Now, the shell, and tail I did recreate from another nail artist (@selinasnailart). As soon as I saw her mani with these cute nails, I knew I needed it on my nails. But the mermaid scales on my other nails...that literally took HOURS to figure out!

The Struggle

Many people think that I've got a huge nail polish collection. But from what I've seen, my collection is more so on the smaller side. I don't have a wide variety of different polishes to mix & match for things like mermaid scales. But I knew that I had to use Opal by Zoya. It is just a gorgeous color shifting flakie polish. I honestly thought it was just this beautiful green flakie, but I quickly found that if the light hits it just right, it's blue! Absolutely stunning!

Anywho...the problem I had with just using Opal was that there was going to be NO red in my mani at all. I know that I didn't want red to be the dominating color, but I wanted it to be in there somewhere! So, I grabbed my amazing glitter bomb, Dashboard Dancing by
